Getting Ready For Your Visit

Resources to Help You Feel Prepared

We know that a dental appointment goes a lot more smoothly when you know what to expect. This page is where we keep the practical details: the forms you'll need as a new patient, what a typical visit looks like, how insurance and payment work at our Weddington Road office, and what to do if a dental problem comes up outside of our regular hours.

If you still have a question after reading through this page, our front desk team is happy to walk you through it over the phone or when you arrive. We'd rather spend two extra minutes explaining something clearly than have you show up unsure of what's next.

You can also read more about our treatment services or get to know the people behind your care on our About page.

New Patients

Forms and Paperwork, Taken Care Of Early

Nobody enjoys sitting in a waiting room filling out paperwork on a clipboard. When you call to schedule your first visit, our team will send over your new patient forms ahead of time so you can fill them out at home, at your own pace, with your medical history and insurance card in front of you. Here's what that paperwork usually covers:

Patient Registration

Basic contact information, emergency contacts, and your preferred way to be reached for appointment reminders or follow-up calls.

Medical and Dental History

Current medications, allergies, past surgeries, and any dental concerns or sensitivities so our doctors can plan your care safely.

Consent and Privacy Forms

HIPAA acknowledgment and treatment consent paperwork, written in plain language so you know exactly what you're agreeing to.

If you'd rather fill these out when you arrive, that's fine too. Just plan to come about 15 minutes early for your first visit so we can get everything squared away before you're seated in the chair. Bring a valid photo ID, your insurance card, and a list of any medications you're currently taking.

Know Before You Go

What to Expect During Your Appointment

Whether this is your first time seeing us or you've been coming in for years, here's a general idea of how your visit will go. Cleanings and exams move a bit faster than restorative treatment, but the overall rhythm of the appointment stays the same.

01

Check-In and Review

We confirm your paperwork and insurance details, and ask about any changes to your health history since your last visit.

02

Exam and, If Needed, Imaging

Our hygienists and doctors examine your teeth, gums, and bite, taking digital X-rays only when they add real diagnostic value.

03

Treatment or Cleaning

We'll explain each step as we go, so you always know what's happening and why, before any instrument comes near your mouth.

04

Review and Next Steps

Before you leave, we go over findings, discuss any recommended treatment, and schedule your next appointment if needed.

Insurance and Payment

Understanding Your Coverage and Costs

Dental benefits can be confusing, and we don't expect you to be an expert in them. Our front desk team verifies coverage ahead of your visit whenever possible and explains your estimated out-of-pocket cost before treatment begins, so there are no surprises on your bill.

We work with most major PPO insurance plans and are happy to file claims directly on your behalf. If a procedure isn't fully covered, we'll lay out your options clearly rather than just handing you a number. For a full breakdown of accepted plans and payment arrangements, visit our Insurance page.

Urgent Situations

If a Dental Emergency Comes Up

A broken tooth or sudden toothache rarely picks a convenient time. If something happens during our regular office hours, call us right away and we'll do our best to get you in the same day. For anything after hours, here's some guidance on how to handle common situations until you can reach us:

Knocked-Out Tooth

Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root. Rinse it gently without scrubbing, try to reinsert it, or keep it in milk, and call us immediately. Time matters here.

Severe Toothache

Rinse with warm salt water and take an over-the-counter pain reliever if needed. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum, and call our office as soon as you can.

Broken or Lost Filling / Crown

Keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side. If you still have the crown, save it and bring it with you to your appointment.

Swelling or Facial Injury

Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. If swelling is severe, affects your breathing or swallowing, or follows a significant injury, seek emergency medical care first.

Our office is located at 9735 Weddington Rd, Charlotte, NC 28277, United States, and you can reach us directly at (704) 752-0052. If you reach voicemail after hours, leave a message describing the situation and a doctor will return your call.

Questions, Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring a valid photo ID, your dental insurance card if you have one, and a list of any medications you're currently taking. If you've completed your new patient forms ahead of time, bring those along as well. If not, just arrive about 15 minutes early and we'll have paperwork ready for you at check-in.

Do you accept my dental insurance plan?

We accept most major PPO dental insurance plans and will verify your benefits before your visit whenever we have the information ahead of time. For a detailed list of the plans we work with, and to learn more about payment options if you're uninsured, visit our Insurance page or give our front desk a call.

How long does a typical cleaning or checkup take?

A routine cleaning and exam usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour, including X-rays when needed. First-time visits tend to run a bit longer since we're building out your full dental and medical history. Restorative procedures, like fillings or crowns, vary in length depending on the work involved, and we'll always give you a time estimate when scheduling.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

We understand that plans change. We just ask for at least 24 hours' notice so we can offer your time slot to another patient. You can reschedule by calling our office directly during business hours, and our team will find a new time that works for you as quickly as possible.

What do I do if I have a dental emergency outside office hours?

Call our office right away and leave a detailed message if you reach voicemail; a doctor will return your call as soon as possible. For a knocked-out tooth or heavy bleeding, follow the first-aid steps on this page in the meantime. If you're facing a true medical emergency, such as difficulty breathing or significant trauma, please go to the nearest emergency room first.

Can I fill out new patient forms online before I arrive?

Yes. When you schedule your first appointment, our team will send your registration, medical history, and consent forms ahead of time so you can complete them from home at your own pace. This saves you time at check-in and gives us a head start on understanding your dental and medical background before you even sit down in the chair.
