A clear, comfortable way for Charlotte teens to straighten their smiles without the social sting of metal braces.
Part of Our Invisalign Program
Middle school and high school are busy, social, and image-conscious years, and the last thing most teens want is a mouth full of brackets and wires. Invisalign for Teens gives your son or daughter a straightening option that fits into sports, band practice, school photos, and everyday conversations without broadcasting that treatment is even happening.
As a sub-specialty within our broader Invisalign program, this teen-specific track uses the same trusted clear aligner technology families already know, but with features engineered specifically for growing mouths, developing bites, and the realities of adolescent responsibility. Dr. and our Promenade Center for Dentistry team have guided hundreds of Charlotte-area teens through this process, and we have built a system that respects both the orthodontic science and the real life of a busy teenager.
Because every aligner set is custom-fabricated from a precise digital scan of your teen's teeth, the fit is tight, the movements are predictable, and the entire treatment plan is mapped out before the first tray is ever worn. Parents get a clear roadmap. Teens get a smile they are proud of, achieved on a timeline that respects their schedule.
Orthodontic needs in adolescence are not always obvious at a glance. Crowding can hide behind a confident smile, and a slightly off bite might only show up as unusual wear patterns or jaw discomfort during a routine checkup. Our team watches for both the visible cues and the subtler functional signals that suggest clear aligner treatment would help.
If any of the following sound familiar, it is worth scheduling an evaluation so we can map out exactly what your teen's teeth and jaw are doing as they continue to develop.
Not every orthodontic case is identical, and age alone does not determine readiness. What matters more is the stage of dental development and whether your teen is prepared to take on the responsibility of wearing removable trays for 20 to 22 hours a day. During a consultation, we evaluate the eruption pattern of permanent teeth, the position of the jaw, and the overall complexity of the case to determine whether Invisalign for Teens is the right fit or whether a different approach makes more sense.
We also talk honestly with parents about compliance. Clear aligners only work when they are worn as directed, so part of our evaluation involves a frank conversation about your teen's habits, maturity, and willingness to follow through on daily wear.
Invisalign for Teens is not simply the adult product resized for younger patients. The trays include design features specifically developed because adolescent teeth and habits differ from adult ones, and those differences change how treatment is planned and monitored day to day.
We walk every family through these features at the consultation so there are no surprises once trays are in hand, and so both parents and teens understand exactly what makes this system different from a standard adult Invisalign plan.
The value of Invisalign for Teens goes beyond cosmetics, though a confident smile during high school years matters more than many adults remember. Correcting alignment issues now also reduces the likelihood of more complex, more expensive dental work later in life, which is one of the strongest arguments for addressing bite problems during adolescence rather than waiting.
Straight teeth are also simply easier to clean, which has a direct effect on long-term oral health. Food and plaque collect in the gaps created by crowded or overlapping teeth, and those areas are harder to reach with a toothbrush or floss no matter how diligent a teenager is about their routine.
Every teen's path looks a little different depending on their starting bite, but the overall framework stays consistent from first visit through the final retainer fitting. Here is what your family can expect.
We take a full digital impression of your teen's teeth along with photos and, when needed, X-rays, so we can evaluate how their bite and jaw are developing.
Using the scan, we build a digital simulation showing how the teeth will move set by set, so you and your teen can see the expected end result before treatment even starts.
A series of custom aligner trays is manufactured specifically for your teen, and we fit the first set in office, reviewing proper insertion, removal, and cleaning.
Each tray is worn for roughly one to two weeks before moving to the next in the series, gradually guiding the teeth into their planned final positions.
We schedule check-ins every six to eight weeks to confirm teeth are tracking correctly, answer questions, and hand off the next batch of trays.
Once teeth reach their final position, we fit a custom retainer to hold the new alignment in place, protecting the results for the long haul.
Choosing where your teen gets their orthodontic care is a decision that affects their comfort, confidence, and results for years to come. Here is what sets our approach to Invisalign for Teens apart from other Charlotte providers.
Cost depends on the complexity of your teen's case and how many aligner sets are needed, but it is often comparable to traditional braces. During the consultation, we provide a precise quote along with a review of your insurance benefits and any available payment plan options, so you have a clear number before committing to treatment.
Most teen cases run between 12 and 24 months, though mild cases can finish sooner. Timeline depends on how consistently the aligners are worn and the degree of correction needed, which is why we track progress closely at each check-in appointment.
Compliance is the most common concern parents raise, and it is a fair one. The built-in blue compliance indicator fades with proper wear, giving both you and our team an easy visual check. We also talk directly with teens about why consistent wear matters, which tends to improve buy-in compared to being told by a parent alone.
Aligners are highly effective for mild to moderate crowding, spacing, and many bite irregularities. For more severe skeletal discrepancies, we may recommend a combination approach or coordinate with an orthodontic specialist, and we will always be upfront if that is the better path for your teen's specific case.
The Invisalign for Teens program includes a set number of free replacement aligners for exactly this reason. If a tray is lost or damaged, contact our office right away so we can get a replacement ordered and keep the treatment timeline on track.
Yes. Because the trays are removable, your teen can take them out for games, practices, or instrument rehearsal without any damage to brackets or wires. We do recommend using a case to protect the trays whenever they are removed, and putting them back in as soon as the activity is finished.
